Navarra, May 2025 - ECOPROLIVE Edición Limitada Extra Virgin Olive Oil, produced in Navarra, has been awarded First Prize in the World's Best Healthy EVOO Competition (WBHEC), the only competition in the world that exclusively evaluates the health properties of EVOO.
This prestigious recognition is awarded on the basis of the oil's health properties, derived from three key molecules: oleocanthal, biophenols and monounsaturated fatty acids.
Oleocanthal is a potent natural anti-inflammatory compound that acts in a similar way to ibuprofen, providing protection against diseases such as arthritis, Alzheimer's and even certain types of cancer. This biophenol is responsible for the characteristic spicy flavour of EVOO.
Biophenols, a family of phenolic polyphenols, stand out for their natural antioxidant properties, which give the oil a fruity taste, help fight cellular ageing and strengthen the immune system.
Finally, the oil's fatty acid profile, led by oleic acid, contributes significantly to cardiovascular health and the reduction of LDL cholesterol, thus strengthening its health value.
